Roja revolves around Rishi Kumar's (Arvind Swamy) love for his motherland. An eminent cryptologist, he goes to a village in Tirunelveli district for his matrimony, but the girl declares her love to someone else. Strangely, Rishi requests her sister Roja's (Madhubala) hand in marriage. Both get married and live in the city. Working for the Indian government, Rishi is assigned a posting at an army communications center in Kashmir. Roja and Rishi lead a loving, romantic life. Roja's world is shattered when Rishi is abducted by militant Kashmiri separatists who demand the release of their terrorist leader Wasim Khan from prison, held by Indian military forces. Roja pleads with politicians and the military for help, but she has little success.

@decembermaria It is Illegal but it is legal only where past history allowed to do so, If you are Hindu and lived in India then only you can know exactly how it works, In north india it is exactly according to what in Marriage act 1955 which i mentioned earlier. But in south Cross-cousins and even between uncles and nieces (especially a man and his elder sister’s daughter) coz past custom.

@decembermaria The Hindu Marriage Act bars marriage for five generations on the father’s side and three on the mother’s side, but allows cross-cousin marriage where it is permitted by custom.

@minamew In india Hindu marriage law marriage with first cousin eg. father’s brother’s sister or mother’s sister’s son is illegal for HINDU,SIKH,JAIN, BUDDHISM but it is legal for Muslims and Christians.

xxmb65, you don’t know? In south india, cousin-cousin marriages take place often. Its a part of southern culture. There is nothing wrong in it, no incest thing involved.
