it’s a good movie, but the book is way better..it’s more witty and touching..and they did switch Salim’s and Jamal’s/Ram’s early childhood character. Salim was supposed to be the one with cherubic face and good singing voice and it was Jamal who had always protected him, not the other way around.

@DannyLetsRoll I’m Indian and i can tell you that the movie isn’t “fictional”. Obviously the conditions don’t apply across India, but that’s because the movie is a depiction of the slums. And so if you’re talking about the slums specifically, yes, this was an accurate film. I’ve been approached by beggers just like the ones in the movie and they really do have a certain organization and strategic approach in their “line of work”.

I have an indian girlfriend who says that slum dog millionaire made so many people stereotype towards the life in india! Are the events in the movie so fictional that it is impossible for people to live under these conditions?

The best movie in the world

This and Avatar are two of the most overrated movies in history. Africa United had a similar feel to Slumdog, but was much less flashy, and had an amazing performance from Eriya Ndayambaje. Basically a better movie. As for Avatar, if you take away the 3D glasses, it’s a glorified retelling of Ferngully. Bandwagon films are becoming commonplace. I used to love Cameron and Boyle, now I see showmanship and huge egos.

PapaSeeps December 7, 2011 at 7:49 am
